I know this isn’t necessarily music-related (unless you count CPS forcing schools to cut art and music programs…hurm), but I’ve been following this Tax Increment Financing (TIF) fiasco for awhile and it continues to amaze me how more folks aren’t up in arms. I know it might seem a little complicated at first but there’s been a number of good articles breaking it down. Anyways, here’s the latest piece I’ve seen about TIFs being essentially corporate giveaways at the expense of Chicago neighborhoods and schools (CPS seems to be looking at a deficit of over 700 million) – “Chicago TIF Money, Records Show Given to Corporate Giants
